My mum made this Angel for me years and years ago to sit on top of the Christmas tree. Now that my daughters have their own trees I thought that it would be a nice idea to make them one each - this is one of them:
They have a pipe cleaner body which has been wrapped in wool for a bit of substance. The head is a circle of calico gathered up by a running stitch around the edge and then stuffed. This was placed over the pipe cleaner 'head' and then sewn onto the body part to secure it. A rectangle of white cotton fabric edged with broderie anglais was then gathered up for a skirt and a strip of the same broderie anglais was wrapped around for the bodice. Wool hair and a few stitches for the face give our little angels their own personality. Then of course the necessary wings - made from red felt.
I hope they don't fly away!

Preparing For Christmas
Well, I've now started my Christmas preparations - what fun!
I made my daughters these festive placemats for their own tables and also these coasters to match.
There is still a bit of fabric left over - I wonder what I can do with it? I'm sure that I won't be wondering for too long though!
